Sony Xperia XZ Unveiled

Sony has officially unveiled the long-rumoured flagship, the new Sony Xperia XZ at IFA 2016 in Berlin.

The Sony Xperia XZ is the successor to the Xperia X, and is supposed to be a refresh over the Xperia X Performance.  It has a 5.2 inch IPS Full HD Display, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB storage expandable up to 200 GB via microSD card, a new USB Type-C, and fingerprint scanner is located at the battery button just like the older Xperia flagships.

The new IMX300 camera sensor offers a new autofocus system called Triple Imaging System wherein it uses color detection, phase-detection and laser assist to accurately measure distance and track intelligently moving objec. The 23 MP main camera does not offer optical image stabilisation, but fret not, Sony instead focused on SteadyShot Intelligent Active Mode which uses the 5-axis gyroscope measurements (angle, roll, and shift-shakes) to stabilize the picture. It still has the 4K video support with 2x lossless zoom.

The XZ features a new design, which is reminiscent of the old Lumia phones' flattened cylinder design. Sony used a new metallic finish called "Alkaleido" that gives the phone a very good shone and depth, and also feels good to touch and is smudge-resistant. And still water-resistant as well.

The Xperia XZ comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and a 2,900 mAh battery, which is a slight upgrade to the Xperia X Performance.

The Sony Xperia XZ comes in three color options - Mineral Black, Platinum, and the new signature color, Forest Blue. Pricing is yet to be announced.
