LG V20 Officially Announced: First Android 7.0 Smartphone Out of the Box

LG has officially unveiled the all new LG V20, which is every bit an upgrade to last year's LG V10.

The LG V20 utilizes the same design principles from LG's current flagship, the LG G5. It is not modular, per se, but the V20 has a removable back cover to access the removable battery, a rarity among premium smartphones.

The V20 has a primary 5.7 inches IPS Quad HD Quantum LCD display, and a secondary display that is longer than the V10's, primarily used for notifiocations icons. It has a dual camera setup, with a 16 MP 16:9 OIS camera sensor as the primary sensor with laser-assisted and phase-detection autofocus feature. The secondary sensor, on the other hand, has a wide-angle fixed focus 8 MP sensor for 135 degree shots. It is also the first smartphone to utilize Qualcomm's proprietary (EIS) video stabilization based on gyroscope, and stream analysis (DIS) for tracking a moving oject and video stabilization by the object's line of movement, along with minimal distortion.

The front camera of the V20 is a single 5 MP f/1.9 sensor that can still take either a normal or a wide-angle shot like the original V10's dual front camera set-up.

For the sound quality, the smartphone comes with 4 DACs for a clear sound, with 75-step finr volume tuning and L/R balance control. It also supports lossless playback and is Bang & Olufsen play-tuned. It also comes with a B&O headset though it is market-dependent.

Unlike the V10, the V20 has forgone the rugged design in favor of the new aluminum body that is an AL6013 alloy, used to make airplanes and boats. It is still as tough as its predecessor, with MIL-STD-810 compliance for shock resistance.

It has a 3,200 mAh battery with Quickcharge 3.0 capability. It comes with 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM and is run by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. To top it all, it is officially the first smartphone to be released with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

The LG V20 will be retailed in Titan, Pink, and Silver color schemes. No word for official release date yet.
