Blackberry DTEK50: The World's Most Secure Android Smartphone Launched

Blackberry is no longer a new player in the Android arena, as the Blackberry Priv is the company's first ever Android device. The Priv's no longer the lonely child as Blackberry formally announced the weirdly-named Blackberry DTEK50, tagged as the "The World's Most Secure Android Smartphone".

Though not officially confirmed nor denied, the Blackberry DTEK50 is essentially a rebranded Alcatel Idol 4s, albeit running on Blackberry's secured version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It has 5.2 inch Full HD (1080p) LTPS IPS display with Oleophobic coating, a 13 MP 6-element f2.0 lens rear camera with Phase Detect Auto Focus (PDAF), Fast focus lock and dual tone LED flash, a 8MP Fixed-Focus, f2.2 84˚ wide angle front camera, run by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, and a 2,610 mAh battery.

The DTEK50 will never be a Blackberry phone whitout Blackberry's famed Blackberry Hub software and the DTEK software itself ( a software that monitors the phone's all-over security) as well as the good Blackberry Keyboard. These are just a few of the apps that this smartphone has to offer.

There is one more feature this phone is rocking. It has a programmable BlackBerry Convenience Key, which can be programmed to do certain actions like launching the camera app. It is working on default as a mute key on an active call.

The specs and features are pretty good considering the asking price of $299.00 (Around Php 14k before taxes). For a Blackberry device, this is basically way cheaper than the Priv (launched at $699.99), with almost the same user and software experience. No launch date yet here in the country.
